In the last 24 hours, 2 of the biggest mods ever created for Super Smash Bros. Brawl were released. Yes, we still out here. In fact, tons of progress has been made in the Smash Brawl modding community within the last year or so and it's so cool to see so much of it compiled into 2 great, fully-featured mod packs.
To clarify, I did not create these mods. I am not even on the teams. I am just someone who mods Smash Bros. and wants to show off something cool our community has accomplished and give you something to play while we all wait for Super Smash Bros. Switch!

Q: What is Smash Bros. Legacy XP?
A: Legacy XP is a Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod based on Project M 3.6, but adding in hundreds of stages, brand new characters, a new look, new music, new modes, and much more!
Q: What is Smash Bros. Legacy TE?
A: Legacy TE (Tournament Edition) is a Super Smash Bros. Brawl mod from the Legacy XP team also based on Project M 3.6, built for anyone, but especially those who play Project M 3.6 competitively. New features include new hidden costumes, new practice features, QoL improvements, and tons of custom tournament legal stage reskins based on the stages the Project M community already knows and loves!
Q: Did the Legacy team create all of these assets?
A: No. Many of them were compiled from the Smash modding community at large. However, they are responsible for a great deal of them. Still, every one who has contributed either directly or through public releases is credited.
Q: Are these mods for 'Melee Elitists'?
A: These mods are for anyone! Contrary to popular belief, Project M was designed to bring together the best of Melee with the best of Brawl. Project M (and the mods that build upon it) is just as fun to play casually as it is to play competitively! In fact, the options even include Frame-Buffer and Auto L-cancel options to insure anyone can have a good time. I myself play with these more often than not! Aside from that you'll find all kinds of goofy modes, items, and stages that have nothing to do with that 'No items, Fox-only, Final Destination' mindset a lot of people think Melee is all about.

Q: Are these mods difficult to install?
A: Absolutely not! Legacy TE can even be played on a vanilla, unhacked Wii! All you need is a 2GB SD Card. If your Wii/Wii U has the Homebrew Channel installed (also very easy) you can use an SD Card of any size. Or, if 480p makes your eyes bleed, these mods also have versions built for the Wii emulator Dolphin with HD assets!
Q: Are these mods legal?
A: These mods are free and while game modding can be a grey area these days, most agree that game modification falls under fair use. I want to reiterate. These mods are made for fun and for practice, not to make money. This is no different than any other game mod. We do not encourage piracy and we make a point of supporting every Super Smash Bros. release. We do this out of love.

A: Young Link, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Ridley (Classic), Ridley (Modern), Lucina, Metal Sonic, Geno, Waluigi, Shadow, and Mage Ganondorf. With more to come! Yes, these are fully featured and animated from scratch!
Q: Can I play this online?

A: YES! In Dolphin, netplay is your best bet, but even the Wii versions come with Wiimmfi, which enables LXP and LTE to connect to other people playing LXP and LTE online! Beware that Brawl latency on Wii though.
